Ruggieri was born in 1971 in Italy, and holds a Laurea degree (University of Pisa, 1994) in Computer Science, a Master in Quality Management (Pisa University Consortium for Quality Engineering, 1996) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (University of Pisa, 1999). He is currently a researcher at the Dipartimento di Informatica of the University of Pisa. He has been an ERCIM fellow at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory at Oxford (1995, 4 months). His current research interests are data analysis in deductive databases; (parallel) tree-induction algorithms for data mining; formal methods in logic programming, including termination methods, verification methods, and testing; intelligent multimedia presentation systems.
He is currently a member of the directive commitee and the treasurer of the Italian
Association for Artificial Intelligence (AIIA).
